The Investigation Chamber of the Versailles Court of Appeal has confirmed the referral of Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi to the regional criminal court after rejecting an appeal filed by his legal defense seeking the dismissal of the proceedings.
The decision marks a new step in the judicial process that has been ongoing since 2023. The court considered that the elements contained in the case file are sufficient to allow the matter to proceed before the competent trial court.
According to French media reports, the ruling followed a review of the evidence and findings gathered during the investigation. The complainant’s lawyer stated that the decision is consistent with the conclusions reached during the investigative phase and with previous recommendations made by the prosecution.
For his part, Achraf Hakimi continues to deny the allegations brought against him. Since the beginning of the case, the Moroccan player has maintained his innocence, while his legal team had requested the termination of the proceedings.
The case dates back to 2023, when a complaint was filed concerning alleged events said to have occurred during the same period. Following several stages of investigation and judicial review, the file has now been referred to the competent criminal court for further proceedings.
